RACER: Who needs WSC demo?...

...when you have RACER to mess around with? :)

I'm being facetious, of course, but RACER with
the Porsche GT3 996 and the BRNO track is
killer!!!!

What is this BRNO track, anyway?  Is it
based on a real track?  The F1 Sauber car
runs really well there too.  The F1 2000
tracks run really slow at some points, but
BRNO is smooth as glass, and looks great too.

I continue to be amazed at the force feedback
in RACER.  It's the most subtle thing I've felt
on my ACT Labs wheel so far.

When do we get an update? :)

Brno is a town and track in the Czech Republic.  I'm more familiar with the
motorcycle races there, but I'm sure there are other events there too.
Here's some info from the Speedvision link at
http://www.speedvision.com/pub/articles/motorcycles/fim_grand_prix/01...
tml

Circuit: Autodrom Brno
Track length: 5403 m
Opened: 1987

There's a map and more info
at:http://www.silhouet.com/motorsport/tracks/brno.html

Track length: 3.352 miles

Originally an 18.109 mile road circuit, the old pits and barriers of which
can still be seen, Brno is now a more bland purpose built motorsport complex
built to attract modern formula racing. The first alterations to the
original circuit came in 1949, when a connecting road from Zebetin to
Popuvky was built, reducing the length to 11.061 miles, and just to confuse
everyone, the racing direction was changed from anti-clockwise to clockwise.
In 1964, a link road bypassing Zebetin was used, reducing the length to
8.663 miles, followed by a further shortening to 6.789 miles in 1975 when a
new road was built to link the start to Kohoutovice. This circuit was still
used by the European Touring Car Championship until the new Automotodrom was
built in 1986, and first opened in 1987.

Thanks for the links!  That's a really fun track.  I wish
all the others had the frame rates that this one does.

RACER: Who needs WSC demo?...

OK, so, back to our regularly scheduled program...

Has anyone else noticed that the "turn into the
turn to save a spin" phenomemon works in RACER,
just like it does in almost any other sim?

Either the effect is accurate, which I think is
probably the case, or the accepted tire modelling
methods used today are extremely inaccurate.

I think the effect is probably accurate, but
impractical to use in real life because of the
increased steering input force required.
