Has anyone had any luck getting GPL working under Windows 2000 with a voodoo
2 card?

No, last time I tried win2k, which was over the xmas hols, i couldn't find
any drivers for voodoo2.  3dfx said that the drivers would be available
when win2k was released but i still can't find any.

Have you got any other games to use the voodoo2 yet?  I would be interested
because I will only install win2k when i'm sure that GPL will work!!!!

I can't get it to work with V3 even with official drivers!  I get to the
inital title screen, then bang - black screen and freeze.
It works in software mode, so it must be a 3Dfx driver problem.  I'm not
going over to W2K 100% (dual boot at the moment) until I get GPL to work!
Evey other game I've tried works without a problem.
Help!

That site does not always have correct info. Site says OK, users say 'Not
OK' for a few games, e.g. GPL and F4!

I can get it to run (for a bit) with the latest V1.02 beta 3dfx
drivers but after a while the whole thing just freezes. In fact
it actually crashes and throws a dialog about an exception, but
you can't see it. (I can see it from my other networked machine
via VNC, but I'm not actually running GPL in network mode at the
time).

My Voodoo2 works fine on Quake2 under Win2K, and any other game
that uses OpenGL, but its a useless piece of silicon with any
Direct3D stuff - no drivers.

BTW, my machine is a dual PentPro 200, if that makes a
difference.

I'm really loathe to use Win98 just for GPL, as most other
things work fine. Throwing the V2 away has crossed my mind, but
3dfx seems to be the best supported for GPL. Just look at the
hoops GeForce owners need to jump through - I know, the other
machine I have is GeForce equipped, but I haven't been brave
enough to trash that machine yet.

Spence.

I am running GPL in win2k with two Voodoo2s in SLI mode with no problems.
Using the 1.01 drivers. Wish I could help you with your problem, but this
will let you know it can work!

I actually managed to keep GPL running yesterday without
problem. I just reduced the level of graphics. I think old dear
was taking exception to the amount being asked of it. So now
without trees, high mirror detail and just me on the track I can
manage nearly 36fps with a single V2 and my twin PentPros, not
bad really. Sure to get worse in a real race, but I can't
complain. Pity I can't find a spare PCI slot for the other V2 I
have. Lets hope I can get the GeForce/2x450 machine working now
with higher res and all detail on.

:-)
