Nascar 2002 Sound Problems

I Installed Nascar 2002 and am having major sound problems.  The
engine noise on my and all opponent cars is horrible.  The shifting
isn't crisp and the engine doesn't sound like a car or change pitch as
RPM's are going up.  I never setup a particular soundcard and dont
know where to do it.  I downloaded all program updates and even some
sound files of websites and no change.  IAs you can probably tell Im
no computer tech, but is there a possible problem.  All my older games
like nascar2 and Grand Prix 3 the sound is perfect.  I am running
Windows XP and ALS4000 Sound Card whatever that is.  Any help would be

Thank you

Eric

Have you tried turning hardware acceleration down a notch or
two? This helped with sound problems in GPL a while ago.

Try turning the volumn down in windows and using the vol control on the
speakers instead...this helped me in NR2k2...
