>> Is anyone using the Per4mer wheel and pedals?
I have to say that I bought a Per4mer Turbo wheel to use with GP2, and was
disappointed, when after only a week of (heavy) testing, the plastic
'ball-runner'
inside (which centres the steering wheel), became worn. This then made it
very
difficult to keep to the correct driving line as the problem got worse.
When will companies realise that optical joysticks last a lot longer.
I have now made a fixed steering wheel from a Logic 3 Freewheel
joystick, and a pedal system out of an old PC-OPTIX joystick.
This system has lasted more than a full season of GP2 so far, and is good
enough to qualify me in the top 6 at Ace level. Mind you, I've yet to win
a race, but that's my fault, not the steering system!!
Does anybody know if the GP500 or any of the other steering systems
use optical contacts? If they do, they might be worth the extra money. I'm
reluctant to buy one otherwise.
