GPL Imola problem

by David Kar » Fri, 14 Jul 2000 04:00:00

Hi folks,

D'loaded the new Imola track, ran it from a temporary file. Towards the end,
however, I get several pop-ups telling me that "Failed to create object from
file" and the indication is that a 3do object (flagger 3do, etc.) didn't
work. And, of course, starting the game reveals no new track.

Sob . . .sniff . . .

I did run it the first time from inside the zip, but I later moved it to a
temp directory within my Sierra/GPL directory tree.   Tried re-downloading
it, and running from a separate directory, too--to no avail.  I do have a
full install in the usual place (C:\Sierra\gpl).

Any thoughts?

Thanks much,
David K.

Do you have the required 7 megs of drive space free?

Hi Aubrey,

Yes, I've got 4.5 GB free.  At this point, I'm not sure what the problem
might be.  Perhaps my gpl.exe is somehow mis-communicating with the install
program?

thanks,
DK

You said you have the temp dir in the GPL dir. I made a temp dir in
the root of my C: drive, c:\temp.
Not logical that it doesn't work in your case, but try a temp dir in
the root dir, maybe it works, it's the only thing that I did different
than you did.

I used to get that message when I tried to add tracks, until I
reinstalled GPL using a FULL install.
Worked for me.
