GPL - Hercules Game Theater XP

Fellow GPL'rs, I have just been setting up my new computer, P4 1.5 Mhz,
AsusP4T mobo, 256K RDRam, Elsa Geforce2 Ultra, Hercules Game Theater XP
sound card. I am using this for music recording mostly, so I have a pair of
NHT Studio One monitor speakers. My problem is with the sounds in GPL. They
just don't sound the same. I am using a 25 watt per channel amp to power the
speakers and the minimum for these speakers is 25 watts per channel. Could
this be the problem? Is anyone else using this sound card? Did you
experience a change in GPL sounds? Music sounds incredibly good but the GPL
sounds just don't sound as beefy as my old system (SBLive Platinum). They
sound more like the default F2 sounds. Are there tweaks in the app.ini file
I can change? I would appreciate any input. Thanks.

I've just set up a P4 1.7 with the Intel D850GB motherboard and used my SB
Live 5.1. It works fine on the sounds. Have you tried any 3rd party sounds
or the 11Khz set? Not that it would affect the sounds but have you got the
P4 patch and the latest D3D patch? Have you tried just putting teh old sound
card in?

Thanks for your replies Andi and Phil. After a little tweaking on the
equalizer, I have my sounds back again. PC speakers are "colored", so I had
to find an EQ setting that was not quite as flat and accurate as I need for
mixing music. GPL does however cause a loud crackle at various times, quite
annoying, but it's not too bad. I don't lose sound, it just "pops" once in a
while. It may be my old power amp.

I use the GTXP and I haven't really noticed any differences, but then again
I never thought the GPL sounds were that good to begin with.
