I have been revisiting (playing again) GP2 & have a question.
There are some tracks (using the Trackpack98 BTW) where I am right on the
pace, some where I blow the AI away & some where I am a bit off the pace. I
was wondering if someone could give some advice on how to adjust the AI
speed of the drivers to even out the performance gap on individual tracks.
I use:
Gp2Edit Ver 1.81
Track Editor Ver 1.8.0.1 (Paul Hoad)
I've changed the CC setup in the Track editor to reflect the setup I use,
thereby evening out acceleration & top speeds by adjust wings & gear ratios
to what I use.
I adjusted the Gears to make the 1st gear much 'taller' than default because
I noticed the AI cars seem to have 'traction control" and don't spin the
wheels no matter how long you set their 1st gear. They used to 'leap' off
the corners and get much better drives than I, but with this adjustment the
AI & I get about even exit speeds out of the slow corners.
One oddity I noticed was that the AI cars seem to have a slightly higher top
speed than I when using the same BHP, Wing & gear settings. Note: I usually
limit the top speed by shortening the top ratio just enough that they hit
the 'rev limiter' at their highest speed. This has helped reduce the
'exaggerated' drafting effect in GP2 quite nicely.
Overall their performance is very much to my liking except for the fact that
at some tracks I'm much quicker & at others they are quicker.
My thoughts are that somewhere in the track setup there must be a way to
alter their performance & I have tried to adjust the track grip, wind
resistance, acceleration, tire compound & brake balance in there, but it
doesn't seem to work for them soley & I find MY car quicker and slower also
as a result of these changes. Thereby making these adjustment ineffective
for me to even things out.
Any suggestions would be very welcome.
TIA
