GP3 June seems nogo...

here's the first paragraph of Gamespot's GP3 coverage.  Make sure you
pay attention to the date quoted.

Grand Prix 3 (Again)
            Posted: May 11, 2000

It's perhaps no surprise that Hasbro
continues to push Grand Prix 3 with more
vigour than any other title at this year's
E3, even though the Americans have yet to
fully realise the thrill of modern Formula
One Motor Racing. (We really do like it.
            Honest.) In Crammond's typically petulant
way, there's still no obvious indication of
when it's due to be finished - the
September date we've heard is, in all
            likelihood, rather optimistic. A perceived
pessimism seems all the more justified
when you consider that the latest version
of the franchise is little more advanced
            than the single-track demo already
            presented twice this year.

So why should this be of any great surprise, Dave?
"The History of GPx" tells us that both GP and GP2 actually hit the shelves
well after the soothsayers kept telling us.  I don't see any logical reason
why GP3 should differ from its ancestors. :-)

LOL!  Well, word has it that Papy is going to release an N4 demo late next month.
That should keep me busy for a while...

Not only that, they assumed by the bug count (32), that it could be
forever until we see it.  My gawd, 32 bugs?   Microsoft would consider
this to be a perfect piece of software. <G>

EB still had a late August release date for GP3.

Seeing Hasbro's methods in the flight-sim genre I wouldn't be
surprised if GP3 is pushed out the gate way too soon and they drop
after-market support soon after release.

I don't know who wrote this (the gamespot article) and where they got their
info from, but the whole piece is extremely negative about GP3.  Maybe
Hasbro didn't give them a free baseball cap at E3.

Also you can see from some of the detail of the piece that the writer has
not been following the progress of GP3 at all, since he states things we
already know to be false concerning the sound effects.

I've heard both July and September confimed as definite release dates within
the last two days.  If only Hasbro/Microprose would keep their official
"site" (if you can call it that) up to date then these rumours wouldn't
persist.

Simon.

No, MS would just consider them to be user errors. ;^)
