I wanted to comment on how accurate the track seems to be.
F1RS, like GP2, doesn't have track camber, but everything else
looked very close.  I went around the track while starting and
stopping the tape.  It looked great.

Differences in gear selection might exist for many reasons.
One, of course, is that the F1RS physics model might be
different from God's.  Gear selection, amount of fuel in tanks,
changes in rules, wing settings, temperatures and many other
things can also contribute.

I take the first turn in 1st, and the last in second.

according to the track map in the manual and sunday's race i should be
doing***turn in 3rd and last turn in 4th/5th ...

there is no way i can do it ... i am using optimum setup (dl from the
web) and i can only do the***and last turn in first. although i can
still do a lap in 1.21 flat .. so is F1RS a really accurate sim?

btw, i am using joystick. so its hard to control a pointy car ... :(
so i don't use one of those all front wing set ups

front: 8
rear: 4

steering angle: 13

The thing with GP2 and F1RS is that you can use very long 1st gear
without burning the clutch (I heard F1's would burn their clutch with
such long 1st gear). The reason of doing so it that with long 1st gear
you shorten other higher gears and keep your engine in high revs where
the most of the power is. 1st gear in real F1 is usually used only for
taking off from a pitstop or a start of the race, slow corners are taken
in 2nd I think. Default F1RS setups can give you a good impression of
what kind of gearboxes (gear ratios) real F1 cars use.

Yes, that's true.  The first gear is only used to get you up into second
(and to take the Loews harpin at Monaco).  In fact, if you read F1
Racing magazine from a few months ago, when an editor drove a Jordan
197, you would have found out what first gear really does.  You give the
car a decent amount of throttle, and gradually let the clutch go, and
then click into second and release the clutch.  Floor it in third.
Kinda like GP2 (can't floor it in first, and only in second when about
to change to third), but even more.
