Andy Nystrom mentioned that you can convert F1RC Tracks into 3DS Max.

Anyone know anything about  this?

Cheers

I had heard that F1RC tracks were trussed up tighter then a Christmas
turkey, but...
Reading between the lines, I think the GP4 guys bought the GPS data for the
tracks from them so we might have a way of grabbing them yet. Still hoping
someone has cracked F1RC though as I think the GP4 guys won't build with the
same attention to detail.

I dont really remember right now, but anyway, i think it was Dennis Grebe?
who had the tool. He got it from someone else i think. He had screenshot of
one of the tracks from F1RC in 3dsmax or ligthwave whatever.

F1RC is the white one in the hungaroring i think, since the other one is
missing the suble corner.
And i guess the black on spa is F1 2001.

He never said which one was which actually. The one of the spas that are
like the real one is F1RC :)

Try to match up F1RC's tracks with the real ones, and see if they are
accurate :)

:-O

Unbeleivable.  I'm seriously thinking that ISI is doing their tracks by
guess, without any serious information or technical data.  They should fire
all the track modelers for sure.  And hire the guys from Ubisoft, I'm sure
they are working on the F1RC patch at this moment <roll eyes>

Ok, Hungaoring doesn't match.  But Spa just looks like the blue overlay needs
to be rotated a bit counterclockwise...

You cant compare the elevations and cambers from those images though -
thats, imho, the #1 flaw in most of the tracks

At least ISI's tracks model bumps in the road. The geometry and elevation of
the F1RC tracks may be accurate but there is not one bump to be found in any
track and it feels like you are hovering above the track because of it. IMO.

I remember a fairly long argument here back in the glory days of
GPL(!) and we were going back and forth about bumps.  I thought that SCGT
had a big advantage over the GPL tracks because they modeled very small
bumps...(well big bumps in a small area might be a better way to describe
it)  Papyrus tracks are not so much bumpy but maybe lumpy.  the rising and
falling is more gradual and probably in some cases, less realistic.
Folks who live in warm climates might not know what frost heaves are
in a road surface, but ISI can do'em, Papyrus can't or doesn't.   However,
they bumps in ISI tracks have often been commented on as too severe.  But
I'd rather have bumpy on a road course than glass smooth like the F1RC
tracks.

Much like running down the back straight at Brazil in F12002 - you float
about 5 feet off the ground
