Guys,

Will I notice much difference between a 64Mb GF4 Ti 4200, and a 128Mb?

I have 4xAGP on my Mobo, 256Mb RAM and Athlon2400?

Has anyone (in the uk) got one they want to sell me?

Thanks.

That has been discussed a lot in the video card newsgroups,
groups.google.com will help you. It depends on the games you will be
playing and the size of the textures they have.

I have a GF4 4400 at:

I wouldn't think so.  THe guts of the card are still the same.  All you
are getting by purchasing a 128megger is the ability to load larger
textures.

Which NR2003 as just one example exceeds the 64MB capacity.  Get the
128...in a few months you'll be wishing you had 256.

I think this article from Anandtech.com will answer your questions
perfectly.  I read and digested this review... and went for the 64Mb
version (because the memory is faster, so performance in many games is
actually better).  You may not make the same decision, based on the
types of games you play, but this is essential reading.

The only mention I've seen of 256 being useful is for (a) Unreal
Tournament 2003 <yawn>, which can apparently use an awful lot of texture
space and (b) Half Life 2 <drools> may be able to use the extra room...

UT2003 can be run at maximum settings on a 128MB card. The only game I
know of that can use 256MB is Asherons Call 2.

Thanks for that, it's a very good article.

I've found a 128Mb GF4 Ti4200 that's clocked at 620MHz, for 90 quid, so I
think I'll go with that! Should keep me going for a bit.

Can anyone give me an idea of the frame rates I could expect in F1C with a
similar setup: Ti4200, AMD 2400+,  4XAGP MOBO and 256Mb memory?

Currently with the GF2 I have, I'm getting late 30s to early 50s in 800x600,
averaging around 40, but with everything set pretty low. Oh, and rain kills
it.

I'd like to run at least 1024x768, with a decent level of detail and get an
average of 50 FPS.

Thanks.

No worries, I get those kind of numbers on an Athlon 2000+ and a GF3 Ti200.
That GF2 of yours is seriously bottlenecking your PC.
