This was one awesome sim!

Viper Racing was my first "true sim"-experience. Physics are nice. Force
feedback is at GPL level (according to my memory). After doing GPL, my only
complaint against Viper Racing is the lack of info about tire temps.

For those of you that haven't tried Viper Racing: Buy it! It was very cheap
when it was launched, and are even cheaper now. If you like you sim slightly
more realistic than NFS, TOCAx and CMRx, but cannot cope with GPL, then
Viper Racing just might be the sim you want.

bought it, tried it, uninstalled it.  the tracks are just too stupid.
are there any real tracks available for it?

The tracks are great. Btw.. i think Daytona is real? the oval that is.
But the fantasy tracks are more challenging then most real-life tracks are.

I wish there was a Viper Racing 2 :)

I love GPL, and since a few days Nascar Racing 2002 (online) too, but when I
tried it, I thought Viper sucked big time. I tried it and... uninstalled it.
Stupid tracks indeed.

My sentiments exactly!

The only other gripe I have is that I use a ff joystick instead of a wheel,
and Viper Racing has a really *** accelerate/brake force on the Y-axis
even though it's not mapped to anything. (I use pedals).

I have to echo that sentiment. It was a fun game for a brief period but the
tracks were just goofy. I guess it's just the "frustrated race driver" in
me, but I want to race on (simulated) real race tracks, not imaginary
"arcadey" ones.

Yep. Assen (Netherlands) is here:

Can't find much else, though. You might try the relevant forum at Race
Sim Central.

But you are racing in an imaginary league.  Why real tracks?  If you want
real tracks so much do some real racing!

RL?  Is the answer in the question?
