My career mode is grayed out in SCGT.  How do I get into the career mode?

Create a driver first?  This seems like a strange thing to happen.  Try the
obvious :-)

I tried everything I could think of. I'm not sure why it became grayed out.
So I did a reinstall and it's back.  Thanks for the ideas though.
