Are PDPI Digital Game Cards worth the money?

I'm considering purchasing PDPI Digital Game card as an upgrade to my system.
Is it worth the upgrade compared to using the joystick port on my CL PC128
soundcard?  I have a very fast system already but I'm always looking for a way
to improve steering control in games such as GPL. I'm using a homemade
wheel/pedal system with 100k pots.  Thanks for your opinions.
