SCGT-CUBE-ERROR????

by Senninh » Sun, 14 Nov 1999 04:00:00

I`ve just got Sports car GT, and I can't get the game to run.

I've installed the game, and I can boot it up, I can even play it in Quick race, but If I choose to play in career mode the following happens.

I buy my car, go to race at USA Chatham, the screen appears with car drawn on, the loading bar starts to move across, then it goes back to windows with the following boxed message..............

CUBE ERROR
Error locating anim map file

C:\PROGRAM FILES\ELECTRONIC ARTS\SPORTS CAR GT\CHTA\MAPS\FLGA00.BMP

Now the folder dosn't exsist, theres not one on the cd called that either............?

So is the game looking for something thats not installed....... or what....

I choose to install everthing, and im not using a no cd patch.

The odd thing is that I can play any other track in normal quick race........ but not this one.....the game is an original.....?
Boxed with manual.......... and this is the first game I've hard in over 6/7 years of PC'ing that has never worked fully.

My system is a PII450mhz, +300mb sdram, SB-LIVE, Creative TNT2 ultra,.... F.Feedback wheel....

I've run into this occasionally, but never tracked the why or where it
happens. I have found that if you just restart SCGT and try everything
again, it works the second time. Who knows why?

It really sounds like an installation error.  Try completely
re-installing.  Make sure you totally remove all aspects of the old game
before you try again.
Good luck...and as always, update your vid and sound drivers.

I get this when I run in Direct3D with max resolution. If you turn it
down to 800x600 you should be OK. It's a nuisance, not a fatal error.

If you haven't already, go to www.gtinsider.com and download the 1.551
patch for the game. Won't clear up this bug, but it takes care of some
other things.
