N99 low sound FIX ( Papyrus Sierra Nascar99 )

by AKH » Fri, 25 Dec 1998 04:00:00

I've seen a lot of complaints about the sound balance in N99 and the
fact that engines and spotter won't properly balance.  I may have the
answer! (for me it worked) I only tried the 3d accelerated versions but
I think it probably works for the normal version as well.

If you use the shortcuts or .bat files that are supposed to be used to
start the game you get LOW sound and no balance between spotter and
engines. IF you go straight to the .exe file it is MUCH better! ie.
double click nr199r.exe or nr19993d.exe from Windows Explorer ...I would
assume this applies to the regular .exe (nr1999.exe) but I never tried
it.

IE: C:\Sierra\NR1999\nr1999r.exe ....for Rendition version.

This skips the 'intro' movie and takes you straight to the game.

Sorry if someone already discovered this and I missed it.

Hope this helps.

you haven't discovered anything.
all you are doing is running the dos versions of the
game, which are similiar to Nascar2.  They are there
because the win95 verson doesn't have support for multiplayer.
what would be great would be a fix for the Win95 version
of the game.  what I did was change the spotter to text and
then turn the soptter's volume to zero.  that works, but I would prefer
to hear the spotter.
