YES! 1:27 !!!

I can't believe it, but I just drove my first 1:27 lap on Monza,
1:27:96. I was stuck on 1:28:45 since september, in december I broke
my own pb a couple of times, but not by much, at the end of december
my pb was 1:28:36.

And now, thanks to my Curve Grande Kamikaze technique, I shaved of
4/10s of my own pb!
Here's the trick, works like a charm for me:
Brake very late for CG, and while you are braking, hold the wheel to
the right a little bit. Release the brake, immediately shift back to
4th gear, and you'll slide to the apex.

Untill tonight I allways started steering after the braking, but the
above technique works much better.

Finally getting through the 1:28 barrier feels so good, I could
sing...

Theeeeeee sun wil come out
Tomorrow
Bet a silver dollar that
Tomoooohorooowwww
There wil be suuuuuuuuunnnnnn

I heard there was a Y2K bug in GPL that allowed *anyone* to break 1:28 at
Monza after Jan. 1/2000 ;-)

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Just jealously y'know. The number of times I've
broken 1:30 could be counted on one hand with lots of fingers to spare
(thumbs too!)

would you guys please mention which car you used? a 1:29 in an eagle is
no big deal, but in the brabham ... I haven't done one yet - only low
1:30s *sigh*

***!  I've been using this technique for ages but have only managed a
1:28.28.  Must be losing it elsewhere methinks.  Grrrr!

Yeah, if you don't point the nose in whilst braking you just drift too
wide and have to start backing off.

Uugh!  Sounds awful!  Stick to racing.  :-)

there are only 2 spots left then: 2nd lesmo (very important) and the
parabolica ... check with GPL Track Computer
(http://www.racesimcentral.net/), GPL-Dump and GPL SpyGirl (both in the
GPL section at http://www.racesimcentral.net/) ...

Yeah, got both programs but haven't bothered to use 'em while my times
continue to improve.  However, I'm just starting to reach a point where
excess effort result in mediocre return timewise, so I may well have to
try these proggies out along with downloading some alternative setups.

Just gave up driving the Brabham and went back to the Lotus after 3
months of trying to be competitive.
Monza 1:28.9
Watkins Glen 1:06.45
Kyalami 1:21.6

I turned all these times after less then 6 laps at each track today.
Not the fastest, but I'm competitive again.
