N3 and Glide

by Andi Col » Sun, 13 Feb 2000 04:00:00

N3 keeps locking up when ever I try to use Glide. I get a few seconds into a
race or practice and it stops, requiring a re-boot to clear it.

I've tried all the latest graphics drivers and DirectX7.0a

My PC IS.

Tyan 1845 MB with P3 667
256 Mb of PC133 memory
Windows '98 SE, DirectX7a
Voodoo 3 3500TV (UK) 1.04.00 European drivers
Logitech Wingman FF wheel using 3.30 drivers.

Anyone any ideas?

Andi.

Make sure you turn off all background tasks, screen saver, virus scan,
power management on the disk and MS Find Fast.

Is that a Micron computer? Regardless, I think you have a Via chipset on
that MB, if so, you may want to track down the latest chipset drivers. I'm
assuming that your video card is AGP. I have a GeForce AGP on that MB and N3
locked up randomly, generally just at the start or a few minutes in. The fix
was an AGP driver for Win98 on Via's website.

If this sounds good here's the url http://www.viatech.com/drivers/index.htm
if not, well I tried, good luck.

I had the same problem. A Micron PC but with a Diamond Viper 770. I found out
that my sound card was sharing the same IRQ with my video card. I moved my video
card to a different IRQ and haven't had any more problems. Probably worth
checking out.

Sorry guys no luck, I've downloaded the VIA drivers, used EnditAll to remove
any odd processes and checked the IRQ's. It still locks up in Glide.

AAaaaggghhh.
