Hamish's GPLRank Question

Me next Hamish !

Your Rank is entirely based on what you know you can do. You could submit a
totally fictitious driver.ini file which puts you straight into the top 500
but where's the satisfaction in that ? You are playing GPL because you are a
Gentleman ( or Lady ) and you appreciate the satisafaction of
acheivement through hard graft.

You are comparing yourself to others but really you are assessing your own
driving ability.

example 1 : If I clip the barriers around Monaco I consider that a mistake
for me and would disregard the time if it were a personal best , damage on
or not.
example 2 : My fastest Kyalami time is .02 faster than my next fastest , I
submitted the slower lap-time because I was happier with my driving on that
lap. On the quicker lap I slid wide in one bend. That's just me though.

If you run into someone with a similar GPLR to yourself in a race you know
your in for a laugh ,
if your GPLR is a little "optimistic" you're going to be found sorely
wanting. Sidenote - fast hotlaps
don't always indicate a "Good" driver - but that's a whole new topic !

SO ! only you will know what your GPLRank reflects ; you could have two
accounts - one for damage on , one for off , perhaps ?

Hamish's GPLRank Question

I think I'll stick with one account - the damage enabled one. For me, having
a bullet -proof car and being able to abuse it with no worries about
destroying or damaging the car defeats the purpose of trying to get a fast
time. I might add that I lowered my time at Nurburgring last night to 11:39
even with badly damaged steering for the last 1/3rd of the track or so -
that long straight is really hard to drive quickly when you've got knackered
steering.

I agree with hotlaps not indicating a good driver - I have that problem
myself. Traffic is a big problem for me and I often don't leave enough time
to slow sufficiently for cornering.

Cheers
Hamish
