My buddy and I are looking for a cool racing game to play together over
our modems.  Our preference goes toward something easier (more arcade
than sim).  Does anybody have any experience of a good racing game that
has a solid a multiplayer function?  TOCA looked like it fits the bill,
but the online reviews I've seen indicate that the graphics are so so,
and the multiplayer function not so good.

Answers appreciated.  We both have a GP1 racing wheel, fast CPUs and a
Voodoo card.

TOCA is great in modem to modem connections. If you live near your mate
this would be ideal. The graphics resolution is aboy 512 by 384 but is very
good given that low resolution. The cars are laser scanned and the racing
is good. TOCA internet connections have a lot of warp.

Motorhead (Gremlin Interactive) is pretty good for a quick blast?
