Savage 4 with GP3

Has anyone tried GP3 with a Savage 4 32 mb yet?  I guess if the performance
with that card is poor (very likely) I will have to resort to the trusty old
Voodoo 2!

Hopefully we will be seeing GP3 here soon:)

Savage 4 with GP3

I have been running it on a PIII-500 notebook with the Savage Mobile chip,
which is basically a Savage3D core built using a 0.18micron process, and
including most Savage4 instructions.  So I would say it is a Savage 3.7  :-)

It only has 8Mb, and so far it's a toss up how to run the game for the most
enjoyment.  Hardware only allow me a maximum of 800x600, and I can run about
21fps hotlapping, or 19fps in a race with all details and only cars in the
mirror to stay consistently under 100% processor occupancy.  There is a
graphical error with shadows which I have to fix with an
"alpha-something-or-other" command line in a "cards.txt" file, which solves
the problem, but gives me solid black shadows instead of translucent.

Software modes at 640x480 and lower run faster than hardware modes.  At
800x600 the hardware wins out (nice coding, Hasbro).  For reference, GPL
gives me a solid 36fps at 1024x768 with all details on.

So, I imagine it will work quite well on your machine, especially with the
additional memory, as you should be able to run at 1024x768.
