I've just read on the GTR 2002 official forum that after more than 75,000
downloads of this mod, the amount of donations is just over 400

Apparently the server costs for just one month are more than double that so
help is required !

If you haven't yet donated and are enjoying playing this mod then how about
showing some support and making a contribution ? I'm sure you'd like further
development of this superb game and even small amounts would help and prove
that they are appreciated.

Hmmm; 400.... At 10 per, that's only 40 people, which seems a bit hard to
imagine from 75K+ downloads. I have to wonder how accurate that is. But
even if they're counting clicks to DL, and not successful file transfers,
that's a lot of traffic. From the invoice Ian posted on the forum, their

.015/MB) were 793 (incl/118 of VAT - yikes!).

How about a show of hands? I was more than happy to chip in 10, which was
over half what I paid for the full game. Seemed about right for an add-on.
Anyone?

I contributed the equivalent of 25 Euros, which is also about half of a
major, full price game over here.

Don't really understand the maths here.... 45 gig of traffic divided by 270
meg per download is 166 downloads. Not 75000 downloads. So no wonder they're
short of money - it costs 4 quid per complete download in server charges!

Actually, once they've maxed out their bandwidth quota, he's right; the
incremental cost to them is about 4 ($6+) per full download. The mod's
hosted in various locations now so it's not all on them anymore, but they
still have costs to recover. Here's hoping they end up with enough left
over for a round of beers!

That is a chuffin(excuse my French) disgrace....all that effort and the
baskets who post on all the forums saying how brilliant it is and how they
really love it and can't stop playing it have given 400 in total...!!!!!

Hope they all get GTR 2002 game crashes from now on....

Thanks for reminding me. Meant to do the right thing but it slipped my mind
completely until I read your post. Sent them 10 quid (or CDN$ equivalent
thereof) which seems reasonable for a very well done mod particulary since
in addition to the mod they're having to bear server charges as well. Great
mod!
