GPL - Map of Spa

I was looking at the map of Spa in the sim yesterday, and noticed that it
doesn't appear to be very accurate, especially where the first turn is
concerned.  Further, the two maps provided in the sim are diferent
(there's one before you actually start the race, and one when you get
into the race).

I'm having a hard time correlating track tips to parts of the track that
don't appear to be on the map.  Am I just not seeing it?

Yeah, you're right, it is pretty crummy.  Keep in mind that the circuit is over
eight miles long so the detail scale for these so-called maps Papy supplies is
gonna be way down.  There are 30 turns but only about 10 show up.  Guess we'll
have to find a history oriented racing site for adequate maps.

Yes I understand your point.  I made a map from your request of the GPL
track information from a Bird Eye's point of view.  The picture is about
50kb, can be easily printed and has a good quality.  It if found at this URL

Note that I will not tell anything about "how" I made this picture.  I am
not allowed to, even if I would like to ;-D

Cool!

Okay, I won't ask "how".  But would you consider posting such a map
for each of the other tracks????

Hi, If you want to make this kind of map, you have to download the track
editor (beta) here :

http://members.xoom.com/paulhoad/gpl/

Then, after editing the track you want, simply make a screenshot.

Cheers.

THis is fantastic.

Can you do all of the rest of the maps (since you obviously have picked
open the map format). The maps in the manual suck.

Yes an no.  This is not the software I am using.  In fact, this won't make
screenshots as what I did.  It can show a map but without any textures on
it, and, well.. some other more technical stuff...  His utility is great,
still...

Per example, his software can't do this :

http://pages.infinit.net/ymenard/marty.jpg
http://pages.infinit.net/ymenard/atlanta.jpg
http://pages.infinit.net/ymenard/dover.jpg

Those are cool too, but...
They look like typical IRL tracks.  Oval track and emtpy grandstands.

It's the overhead views of GPL tracks that we're after.
