GPL-F3, Ferrari in Spa, 4.31.45, how to make it better?

Hi GPL racers,

I just made my best F3 lap in Spa. By the way: How great those original
tracks really are! The new tracks are also very, very nice to have, but
the original tracks are really work of art!!

Yep. I was driving my best lap just a while ago, 4:31.45 by Ferrari.
In my full field 3 lap AI race I was still only 10th. The best time in
the race was nearly 10 seconds faster... I had changed the default
setup slightly: of course I lessened the fuel, and then I set the
"transmission ratio" of 3rd to 23/29 and 4th 24/24. I tried 25/24 and
even 26/24 for 4th in the qualification, but that seemed to be too much.
Not enough power for that... So I stayed in the default 24/24 for 4th.

But what is wrong? In many the curves I can stay with those driving in
front of me, and in the Burnenville-Masta and Masta-Stavelot straights
I even get closer! But at the second half of the track I just can see,
how they are disappearing to the horizon...

And by the way, how would I do with my quite constant 4:32.50 +- 0.75
laps in on-line races? I guess something like 10th also there?

My best lap there in an F3 Ferrari is 4:15.77. It took many laps to get
there, and I am not the fastest. Many are running in the high 13's or low
14's. The key seems to be the top speed on the straights. You need to hit
140+ to be fast there. Watch your replays and play with 4th gear until you
can reach those speeds. Also keep tire squealing to a minimum. This scrubs
off speed in the corners that can not be made up in an F3. My average laps
there are in the low to mid 16's. Keep after those F3 cars, they are a blast
to run on line.... Check out http://bovineracing.com/zgnews.htm  There is a
series there called "The Edge Of Adhesion" that has some cool stuff about
handling and the sort...
