CART:PR Ready for Prime Time?

by Marc Collin » Fri, 12 Dec 1997 04:00:00

In response to those who are critical of Microsoft for releasing CART:PR
before it was finished (like we have never heard of that before), and who
think that Dean's participation in r.a.s. wasn't up to***(like all the
companies have done better), I snip this from a reply post I sent earlier:

More importantly, since the Microsoft CART reps. have diligently addressed
our queries and concerns here on r.a.s., will Microsoft itself support those
of us loyal customers who have already bought version 1.0?

By that I mean if all the great new patches and track editors and so forth
(which is more than CART:PR's competitors have ever provided) add up to a
mammoth and inconvenient download, will Microsoft provide new (or exchange)
CD's with the updated version?  If they are willing to do that for the loyal
early customers (in exchange for our valuable feedback to improve the game),
then we should do nothing but congratulate them.  They have demonstrated
more willingness to listen and improve their product than any other sim.
maker so far.

Support the loyalists as much as the later buyers and I will be happy.
Happy to have a better improved product and happy that finally there is a
company making a driving sim. that understands what we want.  I wonder if
Sierra/Papyrus, EA, Ubisoft, Eidos, and the rest of the laggards are paying
any attention?  If the patched CART:PR is as improved as we anticipate,
combined with the track editor and other goodies, the other sims. will be
long forgotten while people still enjoy the "Quake" of driving games.

By the way, stop bleating about Microsoft and capitalism.  They are less
capitalistic and myopically American than 95% of the large U.S. corporations
in existence.

Can you tell me who we flamed sooo much that they went away ?? I have 2names
here.  Micro$oft and Adam Levesque.  But Adam's case wasn't for the same
thing. It was (I am getting wayyyy into my brain/AFAIK) because of the
illegal posting of tracks on the Internet (Stupid morons who put illegal
tracks on their websites)

Nevery tryed SODA Off-road's track editor ?? f you want to consider your
point as "from an experienced simracer" you HAVE to have this product.
Fact. SODA is presently the most realistic simracing title on the market.

Yes, 100% true. I am happy to live in America, but still I am in the
"Europeen" part of America (Quebec).

Thanks for the balanced post.

Y'know, I think there's been a ton of aburd posturing by others on
this board, and it drives me nuts.

CPR got released with tons of good features, and has worked and
installed on most systems. It also has horrible AI, no yellow flags,
and some other substantial bugs. It got released before it was as
finished as we'd like. The company claims that it is working on these
issues. We'll see how they do. This isn't exactly unusual in the
software industry today. Also, the makers have responded better than
average in the industry to complaints to date.

Let's neither sanctify or demonize CPR's makers. Both are unfair.

>Hmm... you mean kinda like what you did?  Don't be such a hypocrite...

Heck Eric lets clarify some things.  First of all....  I am studying at
College in psychology, and I have some future plans about being a
psychologist.  I am ego-centric yes I am really.  I AM EGO-CENTRIC

<everybody says>
Wow ymenard that disses himself
</everybody says>

I don`t care about what people reply to me.  I laugh at them real hard, I
read them another time, I check and visualise the psychologic state of the
post, putting notes on a sheet of paper, transcribbing it to my real book,
and continuing my theasis.  Yes my theasis.  In what ?? Well....

Pc-related human relations in the real and virtual world.

Yes.  That`s a thing that nobody knows.  I have fun of starting threads like
this, I laugh at them I have a big smile when people flame me. The more they
are, the more my theasis is good and the more I am happy. Call me the most
ego-centric person on the Usenet, go ahead.

Since 4years (with a 1years pause) I made intentionnal ego-centirc postings
and had fun of everybody here.  Micheal/Eric/newbies/rookie/veterans/etc..
Everybody.  Do you remember the Indytrack posting ? The top15simracer list?
the big signature file (35lines) ? The "Dave Noonan sucks" ? The God of
r.a.s ? The moderation of r.a.s ? etc... (I have a list of over 40ones, and
at other places, like also StarWars webboard and chat sessions).

Wow now you unvealed the truth.  It`s a *** theory that I did all by
myself. Prett kewl hey !

So now what will you all say ? that I a really an new-born hitler. That I am
more Ego-centric that you though. That I am the worst moron in the history
of the Usenet. lol go ahead.  I will read it, laugh at it, show it to my
firends at school, take notes, and have a plainfull of fun.  I enjoy getting
flammed, and Ieach time everybody flame me, my smile gets bigger.  and
bigger and bigger...

I did this for the benefit of my theasis.  I dont care about what will
happend to me after this post.  People will get very mad at me, flame me
another time. The circle we go around another time.  I consider most of you
as stupid morons, but I don`t say it loud.

I`m an avid simracer, since many many years, I own every simracing title on
the market, enjoy them all.  I help people with troubles, I did plenty of
websites, I am presently working at www.awpss.com I have great relations
with plenty of websites.  I helped people with troubles on webboards.

But on r.a.s. it`s a new "'ME".  A new face of myself. The Ego-centric guy,
who is leading (in a bad way) r.a.s.  I made some errors on purpose, had
some good and bad days.  I made post that are really "dictaturial".  The man
witout feeling.  The immature guy who dont care about anybody, that try to
dominate the world.  A Net.God  Yes.  A celebrity of the USENET.  A
superstar of r.a.s.  The king of the kings. etc...

Well, life goes on, and I am avid to check the flames I will receive after
this (If I ever will). Same thing as I enjoyed Dean get flamed; and all
those other people also.  USENET is IMHO the most complicated part of the
net, because you find here the elite of the net intelligence.  You will
always find a person that isnt approving your opinion. Always. Every body
wants to be the right guy here.  Everybody wants his opinion to be true and
good.   And tell me who is the ego-centrics here <g>

The real myself is a shy (reason why I like to get publicity here),
intellectual (geek), mature and intelligent person (I have one of the
highest IQ of my College).  I manipulated here everybody, some caught in the
net, others not.  Happy for those who not.

Resume of all that.  I like people paying attention to myself.  I am not a
crazy-boy. I am ego-centric yes by moment depending on the situation.  I am
having real fun here on r.a.s.  and I am laughing at everybody who makes fun
at me

Well I think I have seen enough to impeach you as the self appointed leader
of this NG. We certainly do not need scandals like this.

You should add the most important feat you accomplished here in your sig:

Fran?ois Mnard,
Creator, rec.autos.simulators & illeagle emailer of the Indianapolis track
addon.

There I think that is much better.
