Does a patch exist to get the original Indycar Racing to work in Windows (98
in my case) ?

I have the patch to get the dos version of ICR2 to work in windows but have
never seen one for the first ICR.

Any help much appreciated.

not that I am aware of...you should be able to do a dos boot and run it
that way, but first you have to configure your soundcard to put it's
soundblaster compatibility module on IRQ 5 or 7.
And of course, only analog joysticks/wheels will work, no USB or digital
controller will operate in dos.

Thanks for the respons Dave...the reason I was asking is because my current
wheel is USB, the microsoft sidewinder non ff......I just remember how much
I used to play this years back and was wondering if there was anyway to get
it going with my current setup.

Oh well......have to be ICR2 I guess.....not that bad a situation I guess.

Thanks again.

Indycar Racing Original.......w98 patch ?

Indycar Racing??  Is that the game that Papy released in, like, 1989 or
so?  If so, I LOVED that game at the time.  I spent hours driving that game.
You know, I lost the little book that came with it.  That book allowed you
to look up the answer to the question the program asked you to unlock the
game.  Is there a way around this ancient form of copy protection besides
looking in a racing encyclopedia for the answer?
What a trip down memory lane it would be to drive that again.  I'm sure
it is primitive but I don't care.

I think that might actually be "Indy 500", which I also bought and loved. It
only had the one track, but I spent alot of time playing it too.

The game I was referring to came out after this......it's just called
"Indycar Racing" and had about 7 of the tracks that the Cart cars run
on......an expansion pack came out after this that had the rest of the
tracks. Spent ages driving full races at Milwaukee, Laguna Seca and
Cleveland Airport.

Ahhhhhhhh................mammories.

Could be World Circuit as well, I've still got it and the white book you need to verify.

Mik

Indycar Racing Original.......w98 patch ?

I had no problem running ICR2 on W98.  It ran best when I closed all
background applications.  I know Sierra which purchased the game from
Papyrus will still provide support.  I had problems calibrating my
wheel.

Anyone had any luck running it on W2000?  I enjoy this game and
noticed that there are Web site which have added some of the more
current CART venues.  I thought about loading it and adding the new
tracks.
