GTL-braking marker for Les Combes?

 Hi all,

i was wondering what you guys use as a braking marker at the top of the hill
in Spa in GTL. I used to use tat little "tower" on the left side of the
track, but a) it`s hard to see and
b) while it works quite well when i drive the BMW, i way overshoot the
corner when driving the 911 RSR. So what do you guys use?

Cheers!

I won't name drop,  but I got wander the pits at this year's Rolex 24hr
race and asked a driver which brake markers he uses.  I listed off about 3
corners and he was suprised those turns had brake markers,   after a couple
of days of practice and qualifying,  he had never noticed the signs.  .  He
used different items for each corner.  Good luck with whatever suggestions
you get.

I've driven around Spa and there isn't any correlation with the
real-life circuit and GTL (or GTR for that matter) as far as braking
markers are concerned. Although the developers have done a great job of
cloning the circuit on the PC, they haven't captured every single detail
on the trackside, so if you're playing the PC sim you just have to find
your own braking point and remember it.

Probably not a good point of reference in terms of realism, but I often use
the "groove" in combination with the actual markers or other landmarks.  It
typically depends on how far past the first marker I can brake.  At that
particular corner at Spa, I -think- I mostly rely on the brake markers
themselves.

Don't you guys also have a feel for the track? I mean... You drive it
enough you don't really need markers...

Well, every pro uses markers.  And every driving school teaches them.
Bondurant:

"In braking you need to develop reference points to cue your
application of the brakes."

No way are you going to be as fast doing it by "feel".  Pros don't.

Ooo.. Well what if its a rainy day and you can't see? When I drive RBR
there is just a rhythm to the road thats all... Once I am in the groove
I am unstoppable.

says...

A circuit is different to a rally stage though, it's a lot less
precise and more about feel. Don't expect to get consistent times
or even optimal times on a circuit if you don't use braking points.

If it's a rainy day, you extend the braking point further from the
corner.
