There is an ras server but its always empty, we should use it more often

I never see any RASCAR drivers there. A practice session with other RASCAR
drivers would probably be the single best way to help eliminate some of the
yellows.

I was in there last night, with Ginger! We ran a Bristol-night race, and of
course, a few ne'er-do-wells ruined it, but yeah, I think you're right!

Just out of curiosity, how many people that do the weekly RASCAR race
ever race on the Papy Open servers or other non-password protected
servers?  I race quite a bit during the week and have yet to recognize
any user ID's from the RASCAR races.

Me personally, never Brian. I run a league, Monday nights, and basically
when I get time I practice for that, and the RASCAR races wherever possible.

I just had a 100 lap race at Bristol there with Ginger too. Of course he
won. :-)

Right now, for some strange reason, probably because it's summer and
it's still almost daylight out at 0:20 am and fishing is good, I
haven't raced for weeks. I try to get the RASCAR races, but since it
is on at 22 pm on a saturday, it's way down on the priority list. But
when summer is over, should be any day now :) I hope to pick up where
I left with a lot of Sierra pickup racing (yes, i'm mad)

The 'ras server' that this thread refers to is owned and operated by me.
Great to see that there is some interest in using it.

I started it a couple of months ago and posted some info on it, here is a
repost of the original announcement with boss password, and common functions
(change track, temp, eject and or ban userse etc...).

Linkage -> http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&q=ras%
2Frasboss (watch word wrap, may need to cut paste two lines together)

******************REPOST******************
Ok due to popular demand, the access password for my little server is going
back on.  See the 'yo Jason' thread from Thu09 for more info.

The access password is 'ras'
The boss password is 'rasboss'

Connect with 'ras/rasboss' and review your servers.txt in the N2002 root
install directory for commands.

To use these commands, you must be connected as boss!

To change the track:
type !do_not_auto_start_next_race in chat
Then click 'back' say no to first prompt, say 'ok' to second prompt.
That will dump you to the track selection screen.

Don't forget !eject and !ban followed by either '#12' number or the drivers
name.

Hope this cleans up the action for ya Ed! :)
******************REPOST******************

So load up your password field with "ras/rasboss" or just "rasboss" and get
to it! :)

It's up 24/7, on a UPS.  Hardware is an Intel P3-550 slot one CuMine, Intel
Retail board i820 chipset, 128MB RDRAM PC600, 300w Sparkle, and redundant
2x15GB 7200rpm via software mirror (Win2000Server)

If I get to know someone well enough I'll give you FTP and Terminal Service
logon so you can edit the server.ini to change ratings and LPI restricitons,
tracks in the default server loop, if the basic 'ras' password is needed to
connect or let it be open, etc.

Only drawback is the 12 player max.  That calculates to about 20-30k
upstream which is about 1/2 of my upstream pipe (<-most importantly) and
about 1/10th my downstream pipe.  I also plan to get ISA sever as a router
to superscede my W2k routing and remote access box so that I can run QoS on
the upstream so if one of my buddies goes gaga on my private FTP or I batch
launch my 100 nightly websites in Opera it won't affect pings on the racing
side.

I used to run mine(passworded) with the coming race in the sequence, but no one
ever raced on it... :(
