I can't connect to MP Racing!/ ICR2 ?

I don't know what the problem is but since the first time I've run Hawaii
(when I got in and watched Rhawn Black lap Bristol at 133 MPH to my 122 MPH
*HOLY #$%^*) I have NEVER been able to get anything but the BBS since then.
I've tried Several times on every night of the week, and only get the bbs..

I know that my tries have been late at night (1-4 a.m. central time) but
there's GOTTA be SOME people out there who are night owls like me...

Does the server get shut down at night? I've tried re-installing the
hawaii software from scratch and going the the entire set-up process
again, but no go...only the BBS....is there something in the software
that controls where I log into when I connect?  It's REALLY REALLY
frustrating because I see everyone having fun and I CAN'T GET IN!!!!!

*sob*

Any Ideas from ANYONE?

On another note....in ICR2 when I am watching my performance on the score
board in the corner of the screen after I complete a lap, how do I get it
to show lap TIME and not lap MPH? I can't compare how well I am doing to
what the records are (not that I'm even close to the records) because
they are all times and I only get MPH on my 'status board' (I guess
that's what you would call it..)

A couple of suggestions that seem to clear it up for most people:

Make sure you have as much conventional memory as possible.  Use a boot disk
if you must.

Change the init string in term to force off error correction (aka auto
reliable mode) and data compression.  You might also want to force the baud
rate in the init string.  I suggest starting at 9600.  even though we have
the modems on our end set to force error correction & data compression off,
some modems, particularly USR Sportsters, seem to be able to negotiate the
connection & leave error correction on.
