UK online GPL racing

Well, I FINALLY got a modem (USB modem) so I'm wondering where is a
good place for a not all that good driver to find online GPL racing in
the UK?  I had a brief look at VROC but it seemed to all be american
and I would think that the connection would be too slow.

Also, does the ISP used make much difference to connection speed?  If
so then which of the free ISP's would UK players recommend?

Don't believe it. Many Usa sites that I race on are faster than many I have
used just 20 miles up the road in the UK. I'm only using a 33.6k modem. It's
all I need as a client and refuse to get a faster one when the cable carrot
is*** from it's stick Take another look and note ping times. Anything
under .5 will give you a good ride usually. There are also many fine hosts
in Europe. Forget looking at connections in terms of physical distances.

Depende what you mean by free. BTinternet charges 11.99 per month but you
connect for free at weekends between midnight friday and sunday.

I have 2 isp's and they vary enormously in quality. If you are serious about
online racing I'd pay for a decent isp and stay away from the freebees. It's
false economy trying to connect to overloaded sub standard servers in my
experience. A tenner a month is not much to pay when you consider the amount
you have invested in your system and the phone bills you will pile up <G>
