IndyCar Racing + Joystick?

Alright, for some unknown reason I can't seem to use my Gravis Analog
joystick with IndyCar Racing.  I go into the Options menu and then Controls
to choose joystick and the two options 'CALIBRATE JOYSTICK 1' and 'CALIBRATE
JOYSTICK 2' are both disabled therefore I can't select 'em and can't use a
joystick.

Besides RTFM (which didn't help much), any suggestions?
