GPL Oil temp's for the F3's

by Michael Barlo » Thu, 16 Dec 1999 04:00:00

I just noticed something while watching a replay at Silverstone in
the
F3's.  Every track I go to, my oil temp in the ferrari is always cold.
It starts out cold and raises to it's peak by the start of lap three.
If the gauge ran from 0* F to 100*F, my peak oil temp would be 25*.

Watching this replay I jumped into someone else's Ferrari that
was
behind me.  I wanted to watch my lines to find someplace to improve my
lap times.  just by chance I happen to look at this drivers oil temp.
using the same scale I'd say his temp was about 50*F.  WOW, I though.
For the heck of it, I jumped in to the other ferrari's.  They were all
at about the same temp, 50F.

Is this a boo-boo in the replay or is everyone's oil temp really that
high?
I sent a Zip file to the Alt.Binaries.simutators NG with two screen
shots. both are from the in-car view.

I just heard back from another F3 driver. His oil temp is the same as
mine. So, I can assume that everyone's oil temp is the same.  If that is
true, then there's a goof up in the replay where your car is always
right where it is when you are driving it and everyone else's is at
optimum temp.  Or, there's a goof with the dashes that somehow plays
with the replay to show this effect.

Mike,
AFAIK, Only RPM's and the Tell-tale from other cars than your own are
included in a replay.  Everything else will show as "normal". Not even fuel
(pressure or level) form the other cars (online-racing) are shown dynamicly.
