CPUs and Lap Times....AAHHHHH......

To my fellow drivers:

What's up?? So the big talk now is now "overclocking" you cpu. Any
person dealing with "high performance" should know about tweaking an
automobile to go faster!! Now that we are into the computer age, some
of you now want to "overclock" your pc....Hehehehe...

I have "overclocked" my cpu since I had a 486DX33. I have sent
numerous records with NASCAR using this machine!! Look at the IVGA's
Best for the All-Arounds for NASCAR. I have set 6 World Records with
this machine!! And I was running in VGA mode!!

Now that I have a P5-60, and it's only overclocked to a 66, I can now
run in SVGA mode. BTW, my motherboard does not have the Triton chipset
and can only be overclocked to a 66 anyway. I know that I can set my
records higher!!:)

Some of you have faster pcs, but I still run faster laps than you do.
Why?? You have to use common sense in your ability to fine tune your
pc and your setups for your favorite sim. Some of you just go out and
buy the fastest pc hoping to decrease your times..

Maybe the reason why you are getting faster, is because you had a
machine that quite wasn't up to par. Do you know what I mean??

Anyways, let the overclocking begin...<GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG>

I still think your faster pc won't teach you anything in setting up a
car, though.. Make Sense???

Please don't start to flame me..This is my experience with these
"fast" cpus and sims!! I have answered  alot of questions from some of
you..

Wouldn't you rather learn the sim first?? Rather to buy a "faster"
machine?? What's cheaper????..

Some of you are using the "slow" machine as an excuse for your
performance..That's what is sounds like...

take care..

Of the two, obviously driving and setup ability are far more important -
this is obvious. Having the fastest frame rate you can is also important
though, in order to get the smoothest, quickest most reliable visual and
aural feedback of what you car is doing.

As for running faster laps than I do.....you're just lucky you're in a
NASCAR ;)

Cheers!
John

Hi!

I've a P100, can I overclock it?
My board accepts P up to 133.

How to do it?

Thanks in advance.

This is nothing new.  There have been crystal replacements since at
least 1985 when you could get an Apple IIe humming at 3 Mhz internally.
Overclocking a chip can lead to disaster.  Usually a chip fails at a higher
rate and then is set to a slower crystal.  Overclocking can overcook your
CPU.  Overclock at your own risk.  Also, most warrantees will become invalid
once this is done.
