GPL: Problem with downloaded Brands, Osring tracks

by Arthur and Corin » Sun, 02 Apr 2000 04:00:00

I have downloaded the tracks from Brands and Ostreichring for GPL. They
look great, however I don't see any details on the tracks or grass. The
racing grooves are not there, it's just a plain-coloured grey area. I
understand that the track should just show the asphalt details like the
other GPL tracks. Does anybody know what the cause of this problem may
be?

Thanks and regards,

Arthur

If I recall correctly you will have to increase your details setting (move
slider to the right) to see the groove. Either that or switch trackside
objects to "all". I had to do something like that when Brands first came
out.

I have a PII-450 with 128 Mb and I already have all of the details set to on
and the detail setting slider completely to the right. Is there somethin in an
ini file that may be wrong? I really that have a clue.

I just went into GPL and tried to replicate your problem. The only way I
could get the grove and track textures to dissappear was to switch them off
in the options panel on the textures side of the page. You could double
check by opening your player.ini file (in players\YOURNAME folders) and
looking for these lines under the [textures] heading

racingGrooveAhd = 1                      ; Racing groove in forward view
racingGrooveMirror = 1                   ; Racing groove in mirror view
terrainAhd = 1                           ; Includes grass, dirt, sand,
gravel, and water in forward view
terrainMirror = 1                        ; Includes grass, dirt, sand,
gravel, and water in mirror view

1 after the heading means they are switched on

The only other thing I can think of would be some file missing or
corrupt in the .dat file but the only way to confirm would be to redownload
the track.

Beyond that I'm outa ideas! Good luck!

Which then slows down your framerate if you have a P350 or less?  Rats - no-win
situation.
