Here's an intriguing dilemma...

A friend offered to buy my Creative VoodooIIs which I have running in SLI
mode, so I can afford to buy a 3dfx Voodoo3 3500 AGP. I currently use those
Voodoos for most of my games, and for GPL I use my primary card, an 8 MB
Hercules Thriller 3D AGP, which I bought especially for GPL...

I am pleased with the Thriller's performance with GPL, and with the
Voodoo2s' in my other games. But I was wondering if there are people in
this group with experience running GPL and other games on Voodoo3s. Would
this be a good trade?

That's the same setup I run. I've been thinking about either replacing the
Hercules 3D Thriller with a TNT2 Ultra or a GeForce 256...or... just replace
the entire setup with a Voodoo3. Well after much pondering and reading
reviews, I've decided to wait and see what the Voodoo4/5's bring next year.
I can give you some advice about the voodoo3's though. I put a Voodoo3 3000
in my girlfriends computer and it runs GPL very good but I get similiar
results from the Hercules 3D Thriller. Guess it really comes down to what
games you enjoy playing and after your friend buys your SLI setup, how much
it will cost you. Not much help but something to think about.

I've run GPL with single voodooII, SLI voodooIIs, and voodoo3 3000 and, IMHO, V3-3000 does the deal best: best frame
rate, best in-box space, no problems. The
V3-3500 is even faster and Falcon Northwest (game computer people) make a
premium version of the V3-3500 that is faster still (and could legitimately be called
the V3-4000). Do it, you'll like it.
