N4 radeon problem

by d » Wed, 23 May 2001 20:40:02

I have a problem with N4 crashing after a minute or so when run in openGL mode,
If I run in D3D mode it is fine just a lot slower frame rate (half as fast as
OpenGL).  Computer Piii 800, 196 Mram, ATI 64Mddr Radeon.  Before I installed
radeon I used voodoo 3 in same system, no crashes just a lot slower.  I have
already installed latest drivers for vid card.

I'm having the same problem.  I found this discussion thread on
www.rage3d.com which tells how to cure it:

http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?threadid=15590

I haven't had a chance to try this yet, I just found it a few minutes
ago, but basically it involves putting the opengl dll file from the 7041
drivers into the Nascar 4 directory.  If I get the time I will try it
tomorrow and let you know how it works.  Or if you try it and it works
for you, please post.

Good Luck,
Hal

N4 radeon problem

Thanks for the tips!  I run a radeon 64 ddr as well, my system is  a

tip seems to have stopped the locking,  but can anyone tell me how to fix
the 'transparent track' problem?
In-car I see right through the track  about 50 yards in front
and behind..... I can see the backgrounds beyond the turn right through the
track! Seems like it's not drawing the track textures?
I've got all the detail up trackside objects to all 100% world detail etc...
I'm running the new 103   drivers, but had this problem when I was
running  the 075 drivers too, that's why I've been running N4 in d3d up
until this ogl tip surfaced...
Can anyone give me some help? Hopefully someone who's had this and
fixed it :-)) .  jv.

Disable Heirarichal-Z (sp?) in the driver settings.

If you haven't, goto www.rage3d.com and download one of the Radeon tweakers to
adjust all the different settings and overclock the card. :-)
