Has the Driving Sim genre stood still for the last 2 years?

Recently returned to some driving sims/games on my
(v. humble) P2-350 - roughly these are:

GPL; NFS-PU; GP3;
Revolt; SCGT; Rc2000

A brief look around today doesn't show up any new
simulators worth upgrading the machine for. (except
perhaps getting more details switched on in GP3!)

Or am I missing something?

Might be an idea to take a look at Rally Trophy.

Speaking of MBTR, does anyone know if it works on GF cards? I know they had
a big issue about it not working on GF cards with any drivers after
6.something.

I know they had

Works fine on my GF2 Ultra with the latest release nVidia drivers (23.11?
I've lost track). The only problem I've ever had with MBTR is it doesn't
find my CH pedals but forces me to use my LWFF pedals instead. Oh yeah and
the fact that trucks are slow and boring to drive... <g>

Turn off the speed-limiter :)

Odd...it would seem you're the lucky minority.  =)  I never could get the
demo to work for me and from looking at their forums, there were a *lot* of
people having problems with it. Seems they've patched it now, but refuse to
update the demo. I guess i'll try it again, but no demo = no sale to me, i
don't care how many rave reviews it gets.

No rave review from me. Even with the speed limiter off it isn't all that
much fun. It's very pretty and I'm sure it's very realistic to the way the
trucks handle in real life but GPL and F1 2001 are more fun.

The graphics are very nice with everything turned on in practice but even on
my Athlon 1333 with GF2 Ultra it turns into a slideshow come race day.

It was an impulse buy off InteractCD after seeing a truck race special on
SpeedVision but it never gets any play time - any "sim driving" time not
spent on GPL is spent on F1 2001.

Yeah, but demo's rarely offer any realistic view of the released titles
anymore.

The only problem with turning the speed-limiter off in MBTR is that it
enables the arcade mode.  You can't have one without the other :(

You can turn that off?  Samn, I guess I should have read the manual...

Oh man, I didn't realize that -- maybe that's why I'm such a good driver
;)

Thanks for the tip.

You just reminded me what a great game Re-volt was ... ahead of it's time in
terms of graphics, very accurate and challenging in terms of physics, and
great online play...think I'll go reinstall it now!

Revolt is loads of fun at LAN parties except a wheel is way too slow of a
controller!
