Looking for good current racing sim

Hey gang,

Been out of sim racing for a while. I just upgraded my system with an Athlon
X2 4400+ dual core 64 bit cpu, MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum Nforce4 mb, Saphire
Radeon X850XT PCIe 256 mb video card, 2 gb pc3500 ddr ram, 2 ea 250 gb Sata
hard drives.

Have been reinstalling some of my favorite games today. most of which are
flight sims.  I will reinstall N2003 and F1Challenge 99-02 as those were two
of my favorite racing sims, and would like to have them handy should I
decide to mess around with them. I have not bought a racing sim in some
time, what is a good one to have these days? I see posts on GTR, GTL,
R-Factor...

I would like to have one with good graphics, sound, supports  force feeback
wheel ( have both the MS FF and original red Momo) and that supports my
Track IR 3 Pro w/ Vector, mainly for offline play.

Thanks for any feedback,

GTR, GTL, and rFactor without a doubt.  You may want to wait on GTR
until GTR2 is released.
Richard Burns Rally is also a must-own.
GPL has continued evolving - the new 69mod actually has downforce
modelled (after a fashion).
N2003 has a few mods, at least get all the Project Wildfire stuff.

Don I would say that GTL has the best offline content.

You're going to need a better machine.   :-)

Don, if you have to buy just ONE I would make it rFactor, if two go
GTL and rFactor. rFactor already has PCC, shifter Carts, and other
great mods for it. It also seems to be friendlier to track creation
than GTL.  GTl is a blast, has a greatly varied carset, and is good
online.

Good hunting!

Thanks all!!

I will go ahead and try R-Factor first ( even though don't know what PCC and
shifter carts are :) ), and add GTL as well.

Thanks for all the tips,

Don

Of all the ISI based games (rFactor, GTL and GTR) I think rFactor has the
best appeal.  To me at least.

It's the one with the least "ISI driving on ice" effect.  It's still not
perfect though in this regard.

Again, to me.

Get Richard Burns Rally. If you like rally cars it will blow you away.
The physics are amazing, the force feedback is the best in the
business. There's a couple of community created tools for playing it
online, although RBR being rallying there's no wheel to wheel racing
you get from say GTL or rFactor.

Don - PCC = Porsche Carrera Cup, running 911 Cup cars.. Shifter carts,
think of a go-gart with 6 speeds that can go about 150MPH.... they are
a ball to run, truxt me.. There are a few other mods also, and more
coming. All seem to be done extremely well.

Hey old man!

I don't do much sim racing at all anymore either, but for offline
racing, I think GTL is fantastic.   I think rFactor holds the most
promise for mods and future online racing.
