ICR2 Elkhart Setup Needed

by Phil and Kim Abe » Sun, 06 Apr 1997 04:00:00

If anyone could share with me a good full-length race setup for Road
America-Elkhart Lake, I'd be most grateful. I love that track but just
can't get it quite right :-(

TIA

Right well the corner to set the car up for is that massive double
apex right hander. That is THE Corner on the course. Most of the other
turns are right handers too so thats a plus. As most of them are right
handers u can put stagger in favor of turning right. Put left front
shocks at %90 and the right front at %75 the rears at about %60 and
%50. The steering lock right down to 10. I have seen some people who
put in 1:37:001 type times with steering lock of 7. next the wings.
set the front to 12.4 that appears to be the magic number and the rear
to 8.4 {or higher if u are suffering oversteer. Put the rear camber
equal to the front. that seems like a crazy thing to do but it stops
high speed oversteer. Next set the brake bias a little over half way
back. Set up the antirolls like the shocks except move the rear back
more then the shocks. That was really badly explained what i meant
was. Put the rear antiroll back at about %40 of the max and almost max
out the front one. the gear ratios are faily obvious as they are
dependant on the wings and the tyre pressures are fairly obvious
{depending on shocks and anti roll} the pressures will be low as it is
hard to heat the tyres for this circuit

Here is the setup I use. It runs around 1 min 45 sec on a full tank to low 1:40's 1:39's when the fuel is load
is down. Assuming you are really pushing it. I also use manual shifting, which makes a big difference.

I use a Reynard chasis, Honda engine and Goodyear tires with it.
