Elkhart Lake - ICR2 gurus wanted !

This track is superb ! It reminds me a bit of Spa in F1GP with its
long fast straights and tricky fast turns. I've managed to get down to
1'41.900 but I've had a look at the world records page and some guys
are getting down to 1'37 !!!

How do they do that, Desmond ? (Sorry, British TV joke :)

I've tried reducing the downforce for more speed on the straights, but
if I take it too far the car slides off on the critical fast 3rd & 4th
gear turns. Too much downforce, on the other hand, loses me too much
speed on the three very long straights.

I have added a bit of negative stagger to help get throught the right
handers as most of the critical turns seem to be to the right. My left
front shock is 90% stiff, with the RR, LR and RF shocks decreasing in
stiffness in that order. Don't laugh ! I think I saw this done on one
of Darrel Cherry's setups ! I've added a bit more negative camber to
the stock settings, but nothing over 2 degrees. If anyone wants the
actual setup I would be glad to email it to them if they promise not
to poke fun !

Go on, help me out ! Pleeeeeease :)

Ok Ok

My best here is a 1:38:9 if thats any good to u {my i am feeling
sarcastic tonight}

Anyway setup stuff;

I use a Gravis Analogue Pro, pentium 120, 16megs so if u have anything
worse than this {especially the controller obviously} give yourself a
little extra time. I have 2 cans of beans in my cupboard but thats
totally off the point isn't it :)

An extremly ***e to get right here are the wings

Front wing 12.0
Rear wing 8.4

You already have the stagger i presume i use -.2 to help me get around
the right hander {the big monster mother}

Steering lock: Some people set this as low as 7. I use 11 myself.

Camber: the fronts are whatever they are always at i never change
those so just use the settings u have.
I would change both rears to -1.80 to stop high speed oversteer.

Use 9 gallons of fuel for your flyers this should see u over the line
safely {8 maybe depending on your gear ratios}

Shocks: couldn't remember what i have them set too for a can of beans
but yours seem pretty competent.

I presume u know how to set up gear ratios {and most of this other
stuff too, hope u didn't some know some of it and get at least another
2 seconds out of the car

By the way u can basically get within 1 second of all the world
records if u know about the negative rear typre camber and the low
steering lock {u must have a lot of patience and absolutly no life to
set a super lap though}

Driving tips: Keep it smooth here. The only cornersi slide the car on
are the two corners with bridges before them. The corners before the
straight should be taken "slowly in fast out" to get max speed out of
the car. For the big momma right hander i dive into it at about
135-140 {i take it more like two corners} go very wide at the entry
and get a late apex for speed down that straight.

Always eat some beans before attempting a flying lap.{this is the most
basic rule really}

Don't drink and drive.

Before i get totally senile on you u should keep your wheels on the
track at all times except maybe at the corners with the bridges before
them i tend to really throw the cars at these corners and sometimes
use some grass {ok i only do it to impress the chicks but there u go}

Anyway it is 4am here and i am kind of bollocks {dropped a bench press
bar on my neck yesterday, haven't stopped croaking yet :(

Anyway hope this drivel was in some way helpfull

GAUNTLET

Eoin {me} "what the *** are u on about honk"
Honk {a friend} "i mean its a water rabbit"
Eoin "Honk its a ***ing duck, its got nothing to do with rabbits, i
mean why the *** is it a duck"
Honk " ducks have wings and webbed feet and rabbits have big ears
thats why"
Eoin "I suppose once u put it that way......."

I was sick of writing the usual meaningfull quote :))))
