ICR 2 AVG RACE SPEEDS ON ROAD COURSES

by Shane Metzge » Wed, 19 Jun 1996 04:00:00

In our most recent race at DETROIT on the ICR 2 96 league, i came
across an interesting bug. It seems the avg speed in the results file is
of your last lap and not the race. I belive this to be true cause one guy
averaged 1:15.xx over 30+ laps. This is ridiculous especially in traffic.
Can Papyrus or anyone help me here?

What's ridiculous about that? My times in racing setup vary between
1:11.5 and 1:15.xx, depending on fuel load and traffic I encounter during
the lap. AI cars are usually quite easy to pass.
However, there is a bug in the race timings. The total race time seems
to be correct (I've run short 5 to 10 lap races and checked the replays
with editrpy), but the average speed is false. Here are results from
two races I did. Both were at Detroit and 5 laps long:
1st race:  Race time: 6:05.9,  average speed: 105.400 mph
2nd race:  Race time: 6:04.8,  average speed: 105.185 mph
According to the first race, the length of Detroit track is about 2.143 miles,
but according to the 2nd race, it's 2.132 miles!

I haven't noticed this on other tracks, but then I really haven't tested
other tracks.
