CART Racing problems

Well, I know you're probably thinking, "You had the money to buy GPL and
you went out and bought CART?!" Hehe. GPL's being bought next month. I'm
running it in Win95 and here are my problems:
1. Paintkit-How can I import cars I download from the net into the
paintkit? I tried it before using import decals, but it ends up not fitting
the template correclty.
2. No Thrustmaster?-When I go up to controls/calibration, nothing comes up.
I use a Thrustmaster NASCAR Pro wheel. Anything I'm doing wrong here?
(Please, no cracks about "Yeah, you bought a NASCAR Pro wheel, that's the
first thing wrong." <G>)
3. Indianapolis 500-This one I don't neccesarly need to have, but I'd like
any info on this. Firned of mine gave me the Brickyard already converted to
NASCAR 1. Is there anyway to convert Indy from N1 to CART?

That's it. Any info that could be given would be appreciated. Thanks!

Don't know aobut paint kit, but there a lot of guys at zone that might be
albe to help

I just picked wheel and pedals form chioces and it works fine.

I don't run too many ovals and sine Indy is no longer a Cart race its
should not matter.

Since your running in Win95, remember that CART Racing is a dos product.
Unless your running
the porked win95 port.  If you have a Rendition card, you absolutely have to
check out the rendition 3d
version included with the CART cd.  under the dos folder then rendition.
Your soundcard may not work in dos especially if it is a digital pci card.
Make sure you have dos drivers
installed, once your card is configured right, calibrate the wheel in win95
and then the available settings should be available for your wheel.
Yeah, Indy is a lamer for CART.  :)
Might as well start trying to figure out how to convert indy to  F1RS or
GP2...

Yeah, I've tried it in DOS mode, however every time I enter CART in DOS, it
makes me go through the calibration sequence again which cause some
problems. Hehe, yep. Would be cool to see the Indy road course for F1.

% 1. Paintkit-How can I import cars I download from the net into the
% paintkit? I tried it before using import decals, but it ends up not fitting
% the template correclty.

I long ago gave up with the Window port of this program.  Stick to DOS
and refer to the following Importing with Paintkit help file
http://www.teleport.com/~mcarver/icrptkit.htm

% 2. No Thrustmaster?-When I go up to controls/calibration, nothing comes up.
% I use a Thrustmaster NASCAR Pro wheel. Anything I'm doing wrong here?
% (Please, no cracks about "Yeah, you bought a NASCAR Pro wheel, that's the

Again if this is via Windows, I am not sure I can really help, but...
If you do not have Win98 download Thrustmaster's ProPanel and use it to
set up your NASCAR Pro in Windows.
ftp://208.129.210.78/pub/library/calibration/propanelv11.exe

If you have trouble with the DOS version forgetting your calibration,
try deleting the following files from your DOS version of CART's
directory:
        controls.cfg
        calib.val
and then restart CART.

% 3. Indianapolis 500-This one I don't neccesarly need to have, but I'd like
% any info on this. Firned of mine gave me the Brickyard already converted to
% NASCAR 1. Is there anyway to convert Indy from N1 to CART?

I do not know of any converter from N1 to CART, there is one available
if you have the original ICR1 version of the Brickyard.  Looks like you
need to find another friend who has the CART/ICR2 converted track. <G>
