Help with T1

by Allen Bo » Fri, 11 Oct 1996 04:00:00

I have a T1 that has started acting up badly a couple of days ago. For some
reason it will all of a sudden jerk to the right badly while driving.  I have
had this T1 for over a year and half with no problems except broken springs. I
tried resetting the controls as well as recalibrating but the jerk is still
there. It doesn't happen every lap, but often enough where you can't run a
consistent race. So i went ahead and bought a T2 tonite for $89.98 at Ciruit
City. They were selling it for $99.98 but agreed to sell it at the price that
Best Buy(right across the street) had it for on sale. I called Best Buy before
i drove 20 miles to see if they had one and how much it was. They said they
did and it was $84. Well i  got there and the price was wrong and all they had
was the display and would not sell it. Told me to call in the morning as  a
truck was due that night. Well i went to circuit city and they were cool about
it.  ANYWAY, I want to figure out what is wrong with the T1 so i can maybe
sell it. Any suggestions?  Also does anyone know if it  is necessary or
advisable to place a 1" block of wood behind the T2 pedals to prolong spring
life such as was the case with the T1?Thanks!!

You should be able to get a new potentiometer for your T1 wheel from
Thrustmaster at no charge.
Go to their web site (http://www.thrustmaster.com), follow the "Service
and
Repair" link, then the "Send E-Mail to Service & Repair" link.

I don't believe this is necessary.  The cover of the pedals has a stop
that prevents the pedal from being depressed all the way.  This is
equivalent to the 1" block.

Replace the pot that connects to the end of the steering shaft. It's
pretty easy, but you will need to resolder 2 or 3 wires.
