Those that are hearing that F1GP2 won't have weather? Or those that
think that any Playstation racer is going to be a Mickey Mouse
title....head here and drool....

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Is anyone else as wowed by this shot as *I* am?  (Btw, there are other
neat shots...but this one really hit home -- wonderful what you can do
with hardware special effects).

I can't wait to try this game.  If it seems at all sim-like, I think I may
have to pick up a Playstation when this thing comes out.  After all, the price
of the Playstation makes all the money I threw at my PC to play ICR2 look
crazy.  I just hope that F1 plays as good as it looks!

Hmm.. I'm seriously considering buying a PlayStation for myself just
to play this game, seeing that the too-many-months-late GP2 now seems
to want a P150+ to play decently in SVGA, even without all features
on... my P90 can play ICR2 no-probs in SVGA, how come GP2 can't -
seemingly even without all this sun tinting, etc?

Oh and VGA isn't an option; the problem with having a laptop with a
hi-res screen is that 320x200 is about 8 inches "big".

But I haven't seen the driver's seat view yet...  but I like it how
all the TV shots look just like the BBC feed.  And the Murray Walker
commentary is a nice touch, too :)

One question that maybe Psygnosis can answer...how come everything
looks so dark in all of the screen shots?  I agree it looks good, but
everything around the car looks so dark and evil...

I would like to see these pictures at the original resolution since
the graphics look pretty sharp. Has anyone actually seen the game
played on the playstation yet?

OK, you found us out! There is a variable weather option in Formula 1
(or all wet, if you're brave enough!) which uses a combination of the
PlayStation's hardware and our own software effects for the visuals.

I'll forward a couple of screenshots on to John at Sim Racing News for
his next issue - or perhaps someone can suggest a suitable place to
post a zip file? We'll be sorting out our own 'Bizarre Creations'
website at some point, but as you can imagine, we're a little busy
getting F1 finished at the moment!

Why in all the screen shots from this F1 game is always so dark.  The
shadows are so strong?  Is it a play station inheritance, or Psygonis
just like it dark?

But it looks good anyway.  It's nice to see a totally different approach
to write this game.

Does anyone know how much the game and the steering whell will cost in
UK when it comes out?  I think whatever it is , it will be a much better
deal than GP2.

I am wowed by the idea that someone would hold an F1 race at night.

well, a german tv station shows the track layout of Canada via
Psygonis F1. They did show a full lap. The view was arcadisch, i.e.
from above. The sound was ok, the graphics were ok, but the game play
seems arcadisch. I don't think it will beat Gp2.

You're making some harsh assumptions here.  First of all, if you saw
footage of IndyCar II or Nascar using one of the two arcade views,
wouldn't you make these same statements about THEM?  And as far as the
gameplay goes, you really can't tell until you try it.  They are
working closely with the Jordan peugot team on the physics model, the
telemetry and the overall feel of the sim, and apparently Rubens
Barrichello is part of that effort.  I suggest you don't pre-judge
based upon what you saw....it was obviously done to impress 'the
masses' and not the sim fans, who will undoubtedly want to be behind
the wheel the whole time.

You are right. Sorry. But still, when i saw the car skidding, i just
didn't look real. I did look like Daytona, the arcade hall version.
Maybe there is a simulation mode, with more realistic car behaveour,
maybe the incar view/game experience is different.
I hope so. But i should wait and play the game. BTW, i don't agree
with 'it was done to impress the masses', it was done to show the
track layout for the F1 race of Canada. It was on RTL +, and i suppose

they use Psygonis F1 with every pre-race TV-programm.

A Playstation costs $199.  A wheel for it costs $59.  The game will
cost $50-$60.

All things considered...why wait around?!

>Maybe there is a simulation mode, with more realistic car behaveour,

Psygnosis have stated there is an arcade mode and a sim mode with
diffrent physics models.  There are a lot of gamers out there that
like arcade racers like Daytona and Ridge Racer who would not like
realistic handling at all....(I know it sounds funny, but Ridge Racer
was both completely unrealistic but a lot of fun to powerslide).
Psygnosis is trying to reach as many gamers as possible, and not find
themselves selling into a niche of diehard sim fans...especially since
a majority of Playstation owners are NOT sim fans.  However, they ARE
including a simulation mode which they claim will be very realistic.
Its quite possible you were seeing the "arcade" mode.

Okay...but....what's your point?
