GPL - Unable to load track when using modded cars.

Just started getting back into GPL, went to GPLEA to see what the current
stse of play was with tracks/cars etc.
If I use more than one modified car I can't load a track.  Methinks it's
probably some sort of memory issue, but is there anything I can tweak?
My system is a rather creaky PIII450, 256Mb, V3 3000.

A 'could not load track' error means that you did something wrong with
installing the cars. It's kind of a pain to install the cars, make
only one small mistake and it's a 'could not load track' error.

Here is the best way to install the latest cars, allthough it still
requires carefull reading the readme files
http://qsilver.webmages.com/jfcarset/

And with a V3 3000 you shouldn't install those 16bit cars, they cause
a lot of problems on many systems (mostly random back to desktop
crashes) and the v3 has not enough texture memory to handle those
16bit textures.

No it's not a memory issue.
Can't load track is a problem with a file in one of the car folders.
I suspect it's a problem stemming from your V3 card though. Some of the
car textures (16bit ones) are not happy with glide/3dfx cards.

Why not try GPLCSM. It allows you to choose car sets that suit your system.

Thanks guys.  I downloaded GPLCSM to load an awesome Eagle, but
haven't really gone any further into it.  Hopefully, within the next
few months a sparkly new machine that'll be able to do N2K2 and modded
GPL justice will be mine...

AMD or Intel.  Hmmmm.  GeForce or, um, GeForce...

Which is one of the reasons I've never loaded any cars/dashes/whatever.  Not
worth the hassle...

Disagree bigtime - just look at Kevins movie to see how gorgeous GPL
looks after the updates. Just they away from those 16-bit textures on
the cars, they seem to cause the problems.

Along this line, is there any way to install "Night Silverstone"
so that old replay files will accept it as "Silverstone"?

I've tried renaming the "nsilver.*" files to "silver.*" like the
original track files, and placing in a directory called "\silver"
also like the original, and matching ini files, etc. But no go.  :(
