It should: my 150 is overclocked to 166 with those settings. My
motherboard manual only claims to support 133, with a little extra sheet
slipped in explaining jumpers for 150 and 166, so I wonder how relevant
the compatibility figures in your manual actually are.

Hi

I am looking to overclock to 166. I currently have a Pentuim 133 chip
with a Triton 1 motherboard. The problem is I have two sets of jumpers
to change. One the CPU frequency jumper, and the other a clock
multiplier. I can set the Frequency to either 50, 60 or 66 and the
clock multiplier either to 1.5, 2, 2.5 or 3. The motherboard manual
says that the fastest chip it can support is a 150 mhz. But if I set
the frequency to 66 and the clock multiplier to 2.5 will the chip run
at 166? Currently the settings for my 133 are frequency 66 and the
multiplier is set to 2.

Thanks in advance
Ron

No answer Ron, sorry. But I have the same problem (except I have a P100
and my motherboard can only support 120).

Can anyone advise us please?

Yes.  It will run at 166mhz with those settings, but be aware that it
it may not work reliably at that speed.  It may work for a while and
then get real hot and produce errors.  I overclocked my 166 to 180 and
it worked for about 10 minutes and did strange things like disk read
problems, locking up, failing to boot.  Besides it was not that much
faster or smoother with EF2000 which was the most demanding  game I
had at the time.
Good luck.

That with the sound card - I don't know.  But my P75 never ran at 75
Mhz.  Bought that thing in August 95, ever since that SOB has been
running at 100.  My bro just got a 150, again, went straight to 166.
Tryied 180 and 200 but wouldn't boot.  Shitty chip probably - Intel,
what do you expect.

Later,
Dave.

You bought a p150, not a p180 or p200! P166 is already a bonus you weren't
supposed to get.  :-)

Now if they _sold_ it as p180 or p200....

I have the same type of motherboard which could only supposedly support up
to 120mhz (I have a p100 ATM). On my jumpers the clock multiplier I could
select was 2 or 1.5 and the clock speed selection possible was 50, 60 and
66. At the moment I'm overclocking it to 120mhz but I'm a bit hesitant to
try out 133mhz (by selecting 66mhz and 1.5 for the multiplier) but I
decided I'll do it anyway after I log off today. But hang around and I'll
let you know how I went.
cheers,

Which will give you a P-100....... :)   Better to use x2 multipplier (I
know you know that, but just so's folks don't get confused!).

Cheers!
