hiya m8.
I also have a P133 and would like to overclock it to 166mhz.  When you
find out more could you let me know.
Cheers,
Andrew

In most cases, overclocking poses no real threat to your gear, although
it will likely shorten your processor's life expectancy by a few years
(and considering what it'll be worth by next year, this should not be a
deterrent). The higher you push it, the greater the risk of failure. I
took my 150 up to 166 without a hiccup, and I'm taking a shot at 200
soon. Check out the June issue of Sim Racing News for a great FAQ on
overclocking.

SRN (June edition) had some good info on overclocking, which I tried
out. My system (P133) wouldn't boot at 166MHz, but it would at 180MHz
(weird, huh?). It ran GP2 beautifully at this speed, but unfortunately
Windows kept***. Someone has said that this is probably due to my
RAM chips being too slow.

Nevertheless, if you have a clock adjustable motherboard, you should be
able to overclock. Check out SRN for more details. I think the things to
be careful of are overheating and overclocking too far. You obviously
need fans, heatsinks etc.

There are some other threads on this topic which list other sources of
information, such as FAQs and HTML documents. Have a scan through and
follow some of the links. Good luck!

regards,

Paul.

This depends on the motherboard speed, not the processor speed. The
motherboard is actually slower at 180MHz than at 133MHz (60 vs 66MHz).
The hang ups at 180 are therefore not because your RAM is too slow.

Dammit! And I've just ordered 16Mb of EDO SIMMS! Have you got any idea
about what _could_ be causing the Windows only crashes, or is it just
that my P133 doesn't want to run around?
