Can't even give an opinion because every time I go off the track, touch
another car, touch a wall, the program just kicks me back top the desktop!!!
I've seen previous posts on the warez version doing this. Any solutions?

Maybe its Windows 2000. It has never crashed on my Win98SE.

I'm not on W2K, its W98SE I'm using!
Try in Test Day going into a wall at Monza. Does it crash you back to the
desktop?

No, it doesn't do it to me either.  Think I've heard of it being related
to force feedback.  I don't have mine enabled right now, may be the
difference.  Try disabling yours & see what happens.

Just got the full retail.  =-))  There was only 1 left at the EB here in
Detroit!

Because I have a dual boot system.  I installed F1 2000 to W2K to see if it
worked OK as I intend to move completely to W2K when Guillemot release FF
wheel drivers. After I convinced myself that it worked OK, I uninstalled it
and reinstalled in W98SE which I use for racing sims as my wheel just won't
work in W2K at the moment.
Satisfied?

I've just tried it, and you're right Chuck, it's a FF problem. When I switch
it off the problem goes away!
So, if they sort that, the poor frame rate in a race, and the AI out, we
might actually have a reasonable sim here!

What FF wheel are you using, Iain?

Actually, no, I'm not 'satisfied', Iain. On your dual-boot
system how is video/sound etc. driver selection done?

I do thank you though for finally making it clear which
operating system you use.

Odd thing, really.  Because of the problems I'd heard about with the FF,
and your own problems confirming it, I hadn't tried it until just now.
I have a LWFF, & there is no problem of this sort whatsoever.  I wonder
if those with this particular problem are all using the same kind of
wheel?  Driver conflict?

This title just screams out for a Glide patch!  An AI fix would be nice
too.  However the potential showstoppers seem to be 2:  1)Inability to
save during a session, & 2)no way (that I've found, at least) to save
your race results.  Really hurts for any off or online league
potential.  But I like this title.  Took a little tweaking, but she's
running fine on this C466/V3.  Course the additional 128MB stick of
PC133 I added this morning probably helps too.  =-)

For SCGT, the GTIC offline league...we wrote a program that zips up the car
files and screenshots when you take them of the qualifying results and race
results and it's then uploaded to our server...and the zips are password
protected.  It doesn't hurt leagues that much at all, we can always get
around anything.  I also find it funny how some people are complaining about
fps problems when GP2 was horrid when it came out on my computer and it
wasnt until a few years later that I was able to max most everything out.
Each car in F12000 has 1200 polys, all we have to do is figure out the new
vrl format and then reduce the poly count to (hopefully) 600-800 and the fps
will drastically change for the better.  Right now there's about 25,200
polys for the 21 cars.  If they're reduced to say, 700 each there would only
be 14,700 polys on the track with 32 cars, that's 10,000 polys removed and
less for the cpu to handle.

You seem to have a basic misunderstanding of what a dual boot is.  At boot
up a screen asks which OS to boot into, i.e. W98 or W2K.  Which ever is
selected uses its own video/sound drivers - the 2 OS are not connected in
any way. I use V3 3000 and SBLive and 3Dfx and Creative have drivers for
W2K. W2K also supports DX7 OOTB so it is as good as W98 IMHO at running
games - and a damn sight more stable.
