I *think* it's the "skid_road_dry.wav" file in the audio/vehicle
directory, but I'm not sure. Maybe a google search for that file name
will bring better results. You can also drop the sounds from etcc and
other mods in there if you like them better.

Cheers,

uwe

scratch that, it's "internal_skid_road_dry.wav". I found the backup
file a second after posting the previous article 8-P

I take it you guys are playing F1C 99-02 or whatever it's called?  From
looking thru this thread the multiplayer aspect does sound fairly
interesting.  Is it generally considered a better sim than GP4?  Can it be
played proficiently using keys?  I'll get around to a wheel one day :)
Also, how important is a fast connection to the multiplayer game?  I'm on
broadband, but all the way from Australia :/

It's somewhat difficult to find a copy nowadays.  Don't bother without a
wheel.  Imagine driving your car with on/off buttons :)

We have an Aussie (Steve Whitty) that runs with us occasionally in NR2003
(although F1C is still behind) and he seems to have a great connection from
down under.

It's a decent game, but the cars are a *lot* twitchier than in other games.
I'd say you need a wheel to drive it well, though.

You probably could, after all Zanardi is now racing one with no legs!  I
might look around for a decent wheel later this month, and maybe a copy of
the game might show up on ebay or something.

Sounds good enough :)

I don't know what Zanardi is using but I highly doubt it's an on/off type
button.  Im sure the paddles Zanardi uses have linear movement that
replicates a foot type gas/brake pedal.

Well yes that would be for certain.  Altho from my memory of attending the
Melbourne GP which was his first race at Williams he couldn't even keep the
thing on the track or pointed in the right direction.  Perhaps he does
indeed use some crazy on/off method.  :P

Zanardi brakes with a pretty much standard brake pedal using his artificial
legs, and has a ring mounted around the steering column behind his steering
wheel which he uses to accelerate (pulls the ring further up the column
towards the wheel to accelerate more).

Busy with other stuff than simracing, but I might make an effort and
show up tonight if that's ok ;-)
