Drivers:

I took the time to go to WILKES and try cutting through the pits.  You
cant
do it like last year.  They have extended the PIT wall, made the track
FLAT
and you have to virtually stop - like 55mph to go around curve.  I
looked
at several other tracks and PAPYURUS implemented the same technqiue
so I dont believe we will have this problem anymore in NASCAR 2 or
NRO.  GOOD JOB PAPYRUS

good point that charlie brough up with DRIVING BACKWARDS to
heat your tires with a GAS CHECK.

Your Input is very much appreciated..

Next one????  You haven't answered the initial question.

As like most times Don... you side stepped my question which I'll ask
AGAIN... will FASTLP97 flag your qualifying lap a "no no" when cutting
through pit lane?  You CAN DEFINITELY DO IT AT DEGA!
Well... will it?

Thanks Don

NASCAR 2 - CUTTING THROUGH THE PITS ON QUALIFYING???

by Don Wilsh » Sat, 02 Aug 1997 04:00:00

Charlie:

I thought I answered that.  FASTLAP 97 will not currently flag an
attempt
if you drive through the pits.  But with the turns being so sharp and
with
damage on what benefit would it be.  In the pits now you are best
60mph.  Now this wont help you much at dega or any track.  I really
dont care of someone drives through the pits unless they can qualify
at a really TOP speed.  Now I have tested driving through the pits
and have yet to come in any better than last..

How about you.

Were you able to get some really great times by cutting the
pits at DEGA....

Don Wilshe, IVGA

PS.    Sorry Charlie I didnt answer this so you could understand it.

Let us know why this would be important.  Have you used this
technque when KALI racing on wheretorace !!!!

SUBJECT:  NASCAR 2 QUALIFYING AT DEGA!!!!!

Leave it to you to find a little oversight in behalf of Papyrus that
allows
people to drive right through the  %$$#%$%#$% pits when qualifying.

You might of thought after 6 months of testing that they might of found
this one..

NASCAR 1 you could cut the grass,

now with NASCAR 2 you can cut the pits.

<GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE  WHAT NEXT!!!!!>

Please fix this for MULTI2.EXE

Don Wilshe, IVGA

PS.    Jim Sokoloff, could you explain this one!!!!!!

And AGAIN the question gets "side-stepped."  I guess I (and others)
know the answer then...

What do you mean he "Side Stepped" the question?  I've read at least two
posts that he said NO!!  It doesn't catch it.  He personally tested
other tracks and thought since you had to slow down to much just to go
into the pits that it would be no benifit.

Must be with autobrake on, unless he's crashing into the wall (as I did on
my first attempt).

Don: I'll keep trying to test this for you as I can, and let you know what
I come up with.

Are you telling us that this can actually be done for in N2 to improve
your qualifying speed?  Haven't even ventured to try this one yet.
